FCC Narrowbanding Mandate

In an effort to promote more efficient use of spectrum, the FCC has mandated that all VHF and UHF Public Safety and Industrial/Business licensees using 25 kHz land mobile radio (LMR) systems migrate to narrowband 12.5 kHz efficiency technology by January 1, 2013.

What you need to do to become compliant:

  1. Step 1 - Asses your current radio system
  2. Step 2 - Obtain new or modified licenses
  3. Step 3 - Set a date to begin narrowband operations and make sure all of your radios are tuned to the new bandwidth
